Astros (+140)

Houston beat the Chicago White Sox 3-1 in the ALDS and then the Red Sox 4-2 in the ALCS to get here. This will be the Astros’ third World Series appearance in recent memory, having won it all in 2017 and then lost it in 2019. Given the extra layer of the sign-stealing scandal that rocked the baseball world, emotions will be high for this club and undoubtedly the fans of other teams that are rooting against them.

The 1-7 spots in Houston’s lineup feature proven, veteran hitters: Jose Altuve, Michael Brantley, Alex Bregman, Yordan Alvarez, Carlos Correa, Kyle Tucker and Yuli Gurriel. Their production will be key since starting pitchers Framber Valdez, Luis Garcia, Zack Greinke and Jose Urquidy have generally been inconsistent in the Playoffs. Manager Dusty Baker has had a very short leash with his rotation and we should continue to see that trend play out in this series.

Per BetMGM, the Astros are now +140 to win the series, down 2-1 to the Braves.

Braves (-169)

After beating the Milwaukee Brewers 3-1 in the NLDS and then the Dodgers 4-2 in the NLCS, the Braves have proved doubters wrong. Atlanta finished the regular season with an 88-73 record, so they’re heating up at the right time. This is their first World Series appearance since 1999, which is astounding since they lost NL MVP candidate Ronald Acuna Jr. midway through the season.

Atlanta’s lineup is a threat from top to bottom and features Freddie Freeman, Ozzie Albies, Eddie Rosario, Austin Riley, Adam Duvall, Joc Pederson, Dansby Swanson and Travis d’Arnaud. Expect Jorge Soler to serve as the DH when they’re in Houston. The Braves’ starting rotation will consist of Charlie Morton, Max Fried, and Ian Anderson. Manager Brian Snitker also formulated a bullpen game that worked out in the NLCS, so that’ll also be an option given Atlanta’s dominant relievers.

Per BetMGM, the Braves are now -169 favorites to win the series, up 2-1 on the Astros.
