Barcelona’s Odds to Win La Liga Move Only Slightly After Lionel Messi’s Exit

FC Barcelona announced on Thursday the club’s star Lionel Messi will not be returning after contract negotiation issues. And it turns out their odds to win La Liga aren’t that much worse after this news than they were before.

Prior to this announcement, Barcelona’s odds to win La Liga were at +150, just behind Real Madrid at +130. Following this Messi news, Barcelona’s odds are at +200. And Real Madrid is at +100.

The odds for Atletico Madrid, the defending La Liga champions, have moved even more. Their odds were at +333 before Messi’s exit and they are now at +275 to win La Liga once again. 

After the announcement that Messi will be leaving Barcelona, Twitter had some interesting hypothetical next jobs for him.
